18/8 Barrington Goes Bald To Support Childhood Cancer Research

st baldricks head shaveThe St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a volunteer-powered organization dedicated to raising money for children’s cancer research, will host one of its signature head-shaving events at 18|8 Fine Men’s Salons, 120 S. Hough St., Barrington, Illinois on Sunday, March 13 from 12 to 4 p.m. CT where volunteer shavees will shave their heads in solidarity with kids with cancer and raise money for lifesaving research.

“We are really excited to host the first St. Baldrick’s event in Barrington,” said Jeff Eggert, owner of 18|8 Fine Men’s Salon in Barrington. “This is an exciting day for the community as we team up together to raise awareness and funds for an important cause.”

Every 3 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer; one in five won’t survive, and those who do often suffer long-term effects from treatments too harsh for their developing bodies. Kids are special, and St. Baldrick’s treats them that way. From its beginnings, St. Baldrick’s has believed that kids deserve the chance to be kids – fun-loving, carefree, refreshingly honest, and always a little goofy – and deserve the chance at a future. That’s why donations raised at events like this have made it possible for St. Baldrick’s to fund more than $178 million to support the development of childhood cancer treatments that are as unique as every kid.

18|8 Fine Men’s Salon is hosting the event with Shakou Sushi, which is located at 121 W. Main St. Shavees will sign in at Shakou before making their way to 18|8 Fine Men’s Salon where there will be 18|8 stylists and volunteer shavers. All money raised by the shavees and shavers will go to St. Baldrick’s.
